"This two-day training is meant for chapter leaders (or prospective chapter leaders) of all experience levels to come together, learn from one another, and return to organizing with a greater understanding of what it takes to build DSA into a mass organization of working people across diverse backgrounds. We will cover everything from how to cohere your chapter around shared projects to the basic, day-to-day work of chapter officers. "We will meet on March 1st and 2nd from 1 pm ET to about 7 pm ET (with some breaks included). This is a great opportunity to hone your organizing skills and accelerate your chapter's momentum!" Join us on Wednesdays, February 26, March 12, & 26, to discuss No Shortcuts: Organizing for Power in the New Gilded Age, by Jane McAlevey. This book has become indispensable for activists since its release in 2016. Focusing on the labor movement in the US, No Shortcuts presents a strategic plan for seizing working class power from the capitalists and their government benefactors. McAlevey demonstrates the failures of strategy that underpin the dominant approaches. Many organizations focus on advocacy or mobilizing and neglect true organizing. We must come together and decide for ourselves what our goals are. There are no shortcuts for our movement. Organizing strategy must prioritize taking and holding power, first and foremost. The status quo is not written in stone. McAlevey presents a strategy, along with practical tools and tactics that lend clarity to the path of class struggle and liberation.
